Dutar exists since 2005, it was established in Pécs, Hungary. Their music embraces folk melodies from Hungary, Transylvania, and the Balkan, in a style that melts the very different musical background and influences of the members. The lyrics are the original lyrics of the folk songs, or poems by great Hungarian poets, writers. The repertoire contains energetic dance melodies, and more lyrical pieces as well. Dutar originally started out as a duo project of voice and traditional flute instruments, having been extended later with bass, percussion, and guitar, making the band’s sound richer, the repertoire more versatile. In these 10 years, Dutar performed regularly all around Hungary in versatile festivals, clubs, expositions, etc., and stepped on stage in Granada’s FEX Festival, Barcelona, Paris, Prague as well. The band recorded and published its second CD in 2014, entitled “Tánc” (Dance).
